The truck driving championships is an event
that showcases the professionalism that exists among Iowa’s finest
drivers. It is also an event that exemplifies the word tradition. For over 40
years, Iowa has celebrated the important role that the professional truck
driver plays to the economy of this state and nation.
Each year nearly 100 drivers participate and over 100 volunteers make this
event happen. The tradition of Iowa Truck Driving Championships has always
been a strong and powerful force within Iowa’s trucking industry. Many
people over the years have contributed to the championships in many
special and unique ways. These countless contributions have enabled Iowa
to host one of the finest events in the nation and to set a standard that
all the participants have come to expect and appreciate.
Participating drivers are required to maintained an accident-free record
for 12 months prior to the competition, be employed continuously by one
employer for 12 months prior to the competition, meet all DOT physical
requirements and must represent the state in which they reside or are
domiciled.
