Iowa Motor Carriers Foundation
IMCF Goal #4: Continued Investment in IMTA Headquarters
The IMTA building is owned by the Iowa Motor Carriers Foundation. This 10,000 square foot building at the foot of the State Capitol is a visible testament to the strength and confidence of Iowa’s trucking industry. As part of this ongoing vision to reinvest in the building, a building committee meets regularly to monitor, evaluate and oversee a continued plan of action to maintain and enhance this important asset.
How will we accomplish this goal?
Short Term Goals
- Conversion of the space vacated by a long time tenant to usable space for IMTA events and meetings. Most notably, this space will be used for IMTA’s 3 annual conferences (Maintenance Professionals Conference, LEAD IMTA Conference and annual Finance Symposium) which will offer significant savings to the association when they can move these conferences from expensive hotels to this renovated convention space within the IMTA headquarters building. Estimated Cost of the Conversion - $350,000
- HVAC Overhaul --- Converting the HVAC system to a more energy efficient system is a top priority especially as the current system is on its last leg. Several different systems are being reviewed including a geothermal and solar option. It would be the desire of the building committee to install a new HVAC system at the same time that the convention space is being converted in the building
Long Term Goals
- Purchase of small piece of land in front of the building that is still owned by the State of Iowa
- New atrium floor
- New windows and lighting
- Expansion of the current parking lot
