The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is offering visor cards to trucking operations and drivers as a way to warn them to use truck-specific GPS devises.
Last September, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) asked the U.S. Department of Transportation to study the issue, which led to the FMCSA's GPS recommendations. The FMCSA posted its official recommendations as a visor card at www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
The FMCSA created a visor card specifically for truck and bus drivers on how to choose the right navigation system intended for them. The visor card gives tips for safe and correct use of navigation systems to ensure drivers are properly navigated.
