Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Acting Administrator Jim Mullen has tasked his entire agency with finding ways in 2020 to turn around an increase in large-truck fatalities over the past four years. A federal judge in San Diego on January 16 issued a preliminary injunction against the trucking component of a California law that would restrict how independent workers can be classified by companies. The judge’s ruling means the state of California cannot implement the law as it pertains to the trucking industry. Read more


The Iowa Department of Transportation recently opened its newest driver’s license and identification service center in Kettlestone Plaza between Jimmy Johns and UnityPoint Health Clinic at 1156 SE Ashworth Road, at the intersection of Ashworth Road and Grand Prairie Parkway in Waukee. The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) released new research that identifies both the positive and negative impacts associated with numerous government policies, programs and regulations that target autonomous truck development and testing.
